Search Wabash County Court Records Online
The main online channel for Wabash County court records is Indiana MyCase. The Indiana Judicial Branch county page points users to MyCase for case information and some public documents, while also noting that local courts remain the source for jury duty, court-date questions, and copies not shown online. Wabash Circuit Court and Wabash Superior Court have been in Odyssey/MyCase since September 24, 2018. Wabash City Court joined the same system on February 27, 2023, so city ordinance and city-court civil matters may have a separate court filter.
MyCase is a public search portal, not the official record book. The clerk and court keep the official Wabash County court record. Start with a case number, citation number, party name, attorney name, or business name. Then use the court, category, status, and filing-date filters to keep the results narrow. If MyCase does not show a document, if the matter predates online conversion, or if a certified copy is required, the request goes to the Wabash County Clerk records process.

MyCase supports several search paths for Wabash County court records. Case-number searches can omit hyphens and leading zeroes, and case-number history may still return a transferred matter. Citation and cross-reference searches usually need a close or exact match. Name searches can use a wildcard at the end of a partial value, but broad searches may hit the 1,000-result cap. Date of birth can narrow a name search, but MyCase does not display DOB in case details because it is excluded from public access.

Types of Wabash County Court Records
Wabash County court records come from several local courts. Wabash Circuit Court and Wabash Superior Court are trial courts of record. Wabash City Court handles city ordinance violations and civil city-court matters. The Odyssey list also shows an abolished Wabash County Court, which matters when older case numbers or legacy entries appear in a search. Civil, criminal, family, probate, small claims, and traffic records can each have different access limits and copy routes.
Case allocation is local. Civil filings may go to Circuit or Superior unless local rules assign them elsewhere. Original dissolution cases alternate between Circuit and Superior. Small claims are filed in Superior Court or City Court when appropriate. Murder and higher felony levels go to Circuit Court. Misdemeanors and infractions go to Superior Court. City ordinance matters belong to Wabash City Court, and lower-court details can be different from county trial-court case files.

What Wabash County Court Records Show

Indiana case numbers follow a uniform format. Wabash identifiers include 85C01 for Circuit Court, 85D01 for Superior Court, 85H01 for Wabash City Court, and 85E01 for the abolished County Court.

Public Access to Wabash County Court Records
Indiana public access starts with two rules. The Indiana Access to Public Records Act covers public agency records unless a statute or valid exception allows withholding. Court records also follow the Indiana Rules on Access to Court Records. Under Rule 4, court records are generally open unless another rule, statute, or court order excludes them.

The rule index matters because Wabash County MyCase results and clerk copy decisions both depend on statewide court-access rules.
The more specific exclusion rule is Access to Court Records Rule 5. It excludes sealed records, confidential records, mental health material, sensitive personal information, certain victim and witness data, and other records restricted by law. Public users can usually search basic public case status and docket entries, but certified records, restricted filings, party-only documents, and older records require the clerk or a court order.

Restricted Wabash County Court Records
Restricted court records in Wabash County include juvenile matters, adoption records, mental health commitment records, sealed cases, expunged cases, and documents with personal identifiers. Indiana juvenile records follow IC 31-39. Official MyCase help also notes that juvenile paternity cases filed before July 1, 2014 remain confidential, while later records may still be limited by rule or court order.

Juvenile access rules are separate from ordinary adult civil or criminal case visibility in MyCase.
Expungement under IC 35-38-9 is another access limit. The process depends on the final disposition, sentence completion, offense type, waiting period, and statutory exclusions. A granted expungement can limit the public view, but it does not mean every trace is physically destroyed. Wabash County users should identify each case number first, confirm the disposition, and file any petition in the proper court under the statute.

Wabash County Court Record Requests
The Wabash County Clerk is the certified-copy and staff-research fallback for court records. The clerk's Genealogy and Research page says members of the public may do in-person research during weekday office hours. Staff research must be requested in writing by mail or email, with full names, maiden or married names, years to search, the record type, and requester contact information. The county specifically lists marriage licenses, divorce decrees, wills, and estates as record examples.
